Recently, Dr. Vera Županec, a member of the ELIPS team, had the privilege of addressing future biology teachers from the Department of Biology and Ecology, Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad. Her lecture, titled “Developing Environmental Awareness and Ecological Identity of Primary School Students” aimed to introduce biology students to the importance of ecological identity and concrete ways to develop it.

Exploring the concept of ecological identity, Dr. Županec emphasized the importance of nurturing a strong connection between the individual and nature. By understanding their place in ecosystems, students can develop a sense of responsibility and a desire to protect the environment.

By actively involving students in environmental initiatives, educators can inspire them to become responsible citizens who care about the environment. By equipping future teachers with the knowledge and tools to inspire young minds, we are working towards a more sustainable future.
